On March 21, the Galileo soccer team competed in their first game of the season and they emerged victorious over Brunswick County.

The team had only a few, but very rigorous days of intense training, before the first game of the season. However, the experience has left the players feeling proud and confident in their hopes for winning the games in the coming year.

Senior Robert Young was thrilled with the win, a great start to a new season.

“My favorite part about being a part of the soccer team is the fact that I get to hang out with my friends, but we also grow as a family, no matter who we are, or where we came from,” Young said. “I also have very high hopes for our team this year; I believe that we have the ability to win more than half of our games this year.”

The Galileo soccer team won 1-0 with Sophomore Joshua Buckley securing the winning goal for the Falcons.

This victory promises much for the soccer team’s future, and the players are not the only ones that are excited for the coming season.

“We played well, but we can still improve, and we can play a lot better. Our seniors have been playing for about four years straight, and we want to send them off with a good season,” Smith said. “But, all in all, we have a very strong core team, and so far, this has been a very enjoyable experience. I know that with just a little bit of work, our team will have a very successful season.”
