By the end of the semester, many students are content with having scraped together a C in math class, but no one should be content with anything lower than an A, and it is possible for anyone to get one.

The first thing that you need to do is stop sleeping in math class.

Start paying attention during your teacher’s lectures. The stuff and the material that your teacher is talking about may sound boring, but literally almost everything that he or she says will be on the final exam or the next test.

Next, you need to start taking notes. Even if you think you understand what the teacher is talking about you should still take notes because it’s unlikely that you are going to remember everything that he or she said later that day when you are doing your homework.

This brings me to the next step: you actually need to do your homework. Math is not a subject where you can just memorize facts and expect to pass the test like you would in history. You need to practice, so you know how to do any problem when it comes up because no two problems will be exactly the same.

Also, if you do not understand something, always ask the teacher for help. Your teacher has been studying mathematics for years now and will be able to explain it better than any of the students in your class.

These few steps should lead you on the right track to achieving a high or at least a higher grade in your math class. These steps apply in other classes as well. Hopefully, these simple acts will allow you to be more successful in school.
